WINNER #1: DEAN was nominated by his daughter, Brittany Neal from Palmyra.
My father is my inspiration, my role model and my best friend. I am 21 years old and my brother is 17, and both of us still refer to our dad as “daddy”. And he will always be that. A father is the man who made you, but a “daddy” is the image of a nurturing and loving man who raised you from birth, who taught you practically everything you know, and who you can ALWAYS run to, cry to, ask help from and hug. I know 100% that no matter what happens, my daddy will always be there.
My daddy is a special kind of man. When I was 17, my mom and dad took in a teen-aged foster child with a heavily troubled past, and a hearing handicap. Watching my father deal with my teen-aged biological AND foster brother on a daily basis has shown me how much patience, love and acceptance it takes to be a fantastic parent. My father has taken Joe (my foster brother) on as one of his own children. It takes a lot to be a good father two teenagers and a young adult, but it takes a lot more to be a great father to a teenager that isn't your own. That takes a special kind of person. My dad is that kind of person.
Dad is a music teacher and has been since I was born. It was by watching his teaching skills, and seeing how he connects and truly makes in impact on all of his students, that lead me to go to college to follow in his foot steps. I am now in my third year of college, studying to be a Music Educator, just like my daddy. Every year I watch the graduating students give my dad cards, pictures and letters telling him what an impact he has made on their lives and I realized that dad hears that from his students all the time, but not enough from his daughter. So I heard about this contest while listening to your station (another great habit I've learned from my dad), and thought, “yeah, my dad has made a difference in my life. He has made me want to live my life like him. Being strong in the Lord, always learning from my mistakes, and always putting my family first.” My dad hasn't just made a difference in my life, he is a HUGE part of why I live my life the way I do. Thank you for that daddy. Happy Fathers day!
WINNER #2: CROWELL was nominated by his daughter, Cait Garland from Milo.
My dad is the best dad in the world. He works hard to put food on the table and still be able to spend family time with us. My dad has taught me to be a better person. He is always there for me when I need him or need someone to talk to, when no one else will listen. My dad is my best friend and the best dad in the world, and I love him very much.
WINNER #3: ADAM was nominated by his wife, Amanda Meek and their 3 kids, Hailee, Ellieanna, and Gabriel from Bangor.
Hailee says “sometimes he cooks me pancakes. He reads me stories at bedtime, and tucks me in. He’s the bestest daddy in the whole wide world… there’s no better daddy than him!”
Ellieanna says “when we play sometimes he helps us when we have to pick up our toys in our room. We can talk to daddy all the time and ask him about things.”
Gabriel says “we play baseball with our bats and our gloves. He lets me play with his drums at church. Daddy is my buddy and I love him whole much!”
Amanda says “I would like to just add that I love watching my husband with our kids. He is a great dad. In the midst of his playing, talking, and just spending time with them, he is doing so much more than I’m not sure he realizes. He is doing his part in shaping our kids into good people who have hearts for Christ. He prays with them before bed and before we eat and teaches them to pray for others. When he talks to our kids he is at their level, but his words are always full of such wisdom. He has taught our kids the importance of showing love to others, and treating everyone fairly. Best of all he is leading them by example. Whenever anyone needs help, he is the first to volunteer, most times you don’t even have to ask, he sees something that needs to be done and he does it. He is a man of integrity and because of him there will be 3 more people of integrity in the world. We are very happy to be able to call him 'Dad'."
Winner #4: ANDREW was nominated by his wife, Brooke Teasdale, from Bangor.
Andrew is the best father any little boy or girl could ask for. He is the father of a very active 2 year old boy named Elisha and a 10 month old girl named Esther. If Elisha and Esther were able to write this they would say that their daddy is their Hero! He chases them around the house, gives piggyback rides, and Elisha’s favorite… rides around on the lawn mower. Daddy lets Elisha help him when he’s working on something on the house, car, or whatever.
One of their favorite things to do is have daddy hold them as they dance to a favorite song on the radio. Every morning when daddy leaves the house to go to work, Elisha and Esther have to give daddy hugs and kisses and then they wave to him from the window as he leaves. They can’t wait for daddy to get home from work because the moment he does, they are at the door waiting for him to come inside to play!
Then when it comes to bedtime, Elisha needs to have a story, then holds daddy’s hand as they say bedtime prayers. After that, Elisha loves to give kisses, waves goodbye and says “Bye”.
They also love to curl up on the sofa together and watch a movie while mommy is at work. If they had things their way, they would be with their daddy 24/7. Elisha is always glued to daddy! We don’t know what we would do without him. The “Daddy of the Year” award would go to him, that’s for sure!
He is our hero! God sure has blessed us with a wonderful, amazing husband and Daddy! We love you!
Congratulations to our dads!
